 2016 Preview 


       Paul Bryant completed the 2015 season with a 6-4 record. Last year Paul Bryant just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region four with a 2-4 region record.

       The Stampede improved in 2015 with their first winning season since 2011. No team at Paul Bryant ever won more games in a season than the six victories last year. The Stampede have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2011 season and would love to end that streak this year. They have never won a playoff game in the school's history. The Stampede hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Hill saw improvement as they won six games following a 1-9 record in 2014.

       Since 2010, Paul Bryant has gone a combined 21-41. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 6A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 13 seasons, Paul Bryant has not won much with a record of 36-96. Their 27.0% winning percentage ranks 55th in Class 6A and 359th in the AHSAA. The Stampede have struggled on the football field with only three winning seasons during this time.

       The Stampede are led by head coach Eldrick Hill who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-13 over the past two seasons at Paul Bryant. The Stampede have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hill.

       Coach Hill's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 7-13 (35.0%).

       The Paul Bryant Stampede will play in Class 6A region four during the 2016 season.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Stampede if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season. Unfortunately, Paul Bryant finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason.

       The Stampede open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Tuscaloosa County on Friday, August 19 at Stampede Stadium. Last year the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in eighth place in Class 7A region three. The Wildcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Homewood by a score of 34-14.

       Paul Bryant and Tuscaloosa County have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Stampede have a 0-10-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2009 with Tuscaloosa County winning by a score of 29-21.
